I have had epilepsy for 39 years but am now seizure free... long may it last! In all my years with epilepsy, I have never played video games, don't watch TV for too long or sit too closely to the TV. These can all cause seizures, and can also depend on how serious your seizures are, as well as the extent to which you wish to play. Medication can affect one's vision, alertness (i.e. drowsiness), as well as other factors. The choice is yours, but my advice is to stay away from playing often.

This is not necessarily and answer, but an observation. My 16 year old daugher who is at boarding school, often watches TV until late when she is at home. She likes music and turns the volume high all the time. According to the answer above (from lesmal), I am detecting that too much TV and sitting too close to the TV can trigger seizures. I have seen an increase in my daughter's seizures when she is on holiday at home. Just a thought!

Hi Mpasi, interesting to see your daughter's reaction to TV and music, depending of course on what music is being played. TV is a trigger for seizures, as well as video games. Perhaps more calming music can be played or play the music at a lower volume. I hope this helps. I have had epilepsy for 40 years now... Feel free to ask any further questions if need be. Have a pleasant day.

Thank you. Have a wonderful day yourself.

Hi Mpasi, Epilepsy affects us all in different ways and there are so many different types of seizures. What may suit one, might not suit the other. Music calms the nervous system down to a certain extent, but depending on the type of music played. My epilepsy is affected by video games, TV and loud music.

Come to think of it - I was listening to heavy metal music days before a seizure...

Hi Vernigma, then the onset of the seizure makes sense. Sometimes it can happen only days after, especially when one is stressed. Take it easy and rather listen to more calming, relaxing music.
