Life and epilepsy.

Hi, this is Dewi.

I've had epilepsy for over 40 years. Some times it was easy to deal with and at other times it's been awful. But I've always led my life as normally as I could and won't let anything get in my way.

So I'd just like to say hello

Hi Dewi,I try to live my life as normal as possible but I guess I've become very wary of having seizures while out of my comfort zone.Superman is human afterall.

Sorry Jim forgot to mention that I've recently bought a Medic Alert bracelet and I must admit this does give me a little more confidence knowing that if I do have a seizure at least they'll know my details.

hi

I went through a really bad period from 2006-2010, during which time I developed agoraphobia. I went from an indepedent woman who went everywhere alone to a women who relied on her husband to take her out of the house. I've had a few sesions of CBT therapy and am now beginning to crawl back to normal. I've just completed two 7 hour coach journeys and if I can do that then I can at least get into town alone. So it's onward and upward.

I live my life as normally as possible.

I sometimes think it's easier for those like me who can't remember not having epilepsy cos it just feels normal now to have it for me, if you know what I mean.

I've been through some bad patches with it though and had some horrenos times that I'd hate to go through again. When the seizures are daily and in clusters, it does get almost impossible to cope. But happily, better meds have cut my seizures down a lot though they've never been controlled completely and probably never will be.

All the best of luck.

Hi Mimi,

I've only been diagnosed with Epilepsy in the last 5 years and don't think that I have come to terms with it,I suppose its the "I'll wake up and its all been a bad dream syndrome".Like you I get cluster seizures,my next Neuro appointment will be with the 3rd different in the 5 years,3 med changes later and I am now back on my origional medication at a slightly higher dose.

I had a bad seizure while out and about in public and from the reactions I became very wary of being out on my own in case of another seizure.

But onward and upwards I have recently moved into another property and so far I have only had minor cluster S,Ps so here's to a happy and healthy new year all round.
