i had absent siezure epilepsy for 6 years when I was very young and grew out of it and now has returned 17 year epilepsy free just wondering if anyone has had any similar experience

Hia there Emma,

This does sometimes happen. I also went years without a seizure and then restarted.

There are two big positives though. First the more seizures you have the more likely (generally speaking) you are to have another one so in your case you’re in a strong position to nip them in the bud with some medication. You might only need to take it for a year or so and if things have calm down you may well be able to come off them again.

However the other positive is anybody can have a seizure, even those who don’t have epilepsy so unless you have another one the doctors are actually unlikely to suggest medication. But if you do end up needing it you must have a very good chance of getting them fully under control.

hi, how many yrs did you have epilepsy? Is it tonic clonic seizures?
