Elton John to the rescue

I have been doing some research on Epilepsy since seeing my ex boyfriend having tonic clonic seizures ! I read that Elton John has Epilepsy , you know he was one of the main financial backers for AIDS research and cure , so since he has Epilepsy I'm quite taken back that he isn't a Huge contributor / donator for a cure!!! Perhaps if everyone got together and formed a group or individually made contact with him via letters showing interest for him to contribute for a cure the researchers could get the Stem Cell research ahead of itself to finding the cure sooner, rather than later !! They have had great success thus far in rats with the stem cells showing the rats had no more seizures afterwards!!! Soooo with that said instead of conversing here on this platform , why not make it known and reach out to Elton John , I still find it some what daunting that he hasn't showed as much interest in a disease that HE does have , to one He never had!!!!!!!!! Get those letters written today people , strength in unity!!!!! Good luck

I totally understand what you’re saying. When I found out that many other celebrities had or was cured from epilepsy, I always wondered if any of them have ever supported an epilepsy charity/hospital... that I did not know of. I don’t feel that you should focus on just one celebrity if you are choosing to do this.

I hate the fact that I have been suffering from epilepsy for over 20 years and it is still not controlled. My epilepsy has caused me to have horrid accidents with permanent scars to my face causing me to have surgery. I never know when I’m going to have a seizure and I have many allergies. My epilepsy does make me angry but I can only say time is a healer.

My opinion to this is to rethink this if you plan to do this. Elton John is not the only Epilepsy Warrior Celebrity.

The last time I checked, epilepsy was a neurological disorder, not a disease.

Epilepsy is a neurological dis order not a disease . I was diagnosed with grand mal epilepsy at the age of 14 and have gone through various types of prescriptions over the last 46 years. The source of my condition was the lack of the funneling system at the base of my brain. When you get excited or very angry and upset the serotonin increases from one side of the brain to the other and there is a funnel like device at the base of your brain which helps filter the amount of serotonin. After many tests it was discovered that I do not have this funnel and therefore anytime I would get really excited or upset it would trigger the grand mal seizures which would leave me in an unconscious state for up to twenty four hours. Many reasons for having seizures are directly neurologically related such as a head injury, a traumatic incident, giving birth etc. There is not a cure but some have been through surgery which in some cases helped and others worse. I would rather have meds to regulate the seizures rather than being operated.

@elsieadams Lots of Love to you and I hope that a cure is found soon. I’ve had a rough few months as one of my seizures caused me to be admitted in hospital. I was cooking and had a fit, the hot oil got to one side of my face(long story) I’m not sure how many more surgeries I will have to go through but I can only hope all goes well. I’ve shed a lot of tears but I’ve learned that hope is good, even at the crappy times.

All the best and stay safe

Sorry to hear that you have been having a rough time and now with this covid 19 I expect a lot of people suffering with epilepsy arr on the back burner. I find one thing that really helps if you are able to find a nice serene place with a beautiful view try listening to some rainforest or soothing music with nature sounds. I also have tinnitus and some night when the ringing is so loud or I am upset about something I find this helps me sleep. You can buy these gadgets that have different sounds such as water fall. rippling brooks, etc. They can be set for 20 minutes to an hour and eventually you fall asleep and totally relaxed. I find with epilepsy I do not hang out with people who complain constantly about what is bad in their lives if they had epilepsy how would they cope. Taking time to preplan you next day means you are not rushed when getting up . Just little things that are annoying try to relax and let it pass by. We need tender loving care for ourselves. Take care and all the best.
