Hi, hormones play a big part in one's epilepsy pattern. When one is in pre-menstrual, menstrual and post-menstrual cycles hormones rise and lower at certain times. This leads to a definite increase in seizures or could be relevant to the type of seizure experienced. My epilepsy started at the age of 16, whilst going through puberty. A friend of mine has a seizure regularly once a month during her menstrual cycle - this is again due to an imbalance of the hormonal system. One is also stressed during one's cycle, and stress can bring on a seizure alone, without the impact of hormones at the same time. Please feel free to communicate with me further on Facebook if you so wish and add me as a friend.

Regards,
