Sorry but I'm not sure what you mean by either of these terms - I haven't heard them before. Can you explain what you mean by the word "generalised". Thanks a lot.

Hi... my understanding is that Generalised Epilepsy is epilepsy of unknown cause. A more accurate label may be Primary Generalised Epilepsy also known as Idiopathic Epilepsy and is al. If your epilepsy is cause by a visible lesion or scaring perhaps due to accident or tumour, it is not 'generalised.' and therefore is 'symptomatic' or secondary.

As for generalised seizures, these are seizures that affect the whole brain rather than one localised area.

Generalised seizures could be any of the following: absence seizures, myoclonic seizures, clonic seizures, tonic-clonic seizures or atonic seizures.

Seizures that are not generalized may be focal seizures, partial seizures or temporal lobe for example, but sometimes these may progress to generalised seizures.
