Everyone has a right not to take any medications for any illness but my understanding is that without medication for epilepsy, it can become progressively worse. Seizures put the sufferer and others around at risk from accidents caused during seizures. Eventually in some cases and for some types of epilepsy doctors will try to ween patients off medication if and when appropriate.
