Hi my daughter has tuberous sclerosis and epilepsy. She has just been told by a consultant neurologist that a seizure captured on camera while having an EEG was not epileptic as the EEG was normal and because the seizure looked non epileptic.
is it possible to have normal EEG during a seizure?

Hi my daughter has tuberous sclerosis as well and was diagnosed at 2y 9m. Her first type of seizures were caught on EEG but over the years she's had two different types that she's called 'skyfall' the sky felt like it was falling down on her, and 'funny dreams' she was picked up and put in a film/dream etc and then back again ( deja vu) type. You could visually see them and we've had 48hour mobile EEG, 24 hour mobile EEG and 2 EEGs in hospital but none of them have been picked up. we went on for 3years until they witnessed it and straight away they increased her medication!!!! They've now told me hers just don't show up on EEG
I don't believe only 2 episodes of grand mals 3 years apart qualify me as Epileptic !!! I think the Nuero has to label me some way or other - I don't know, I'm just not sure ???
