Hi I've been on epilim for around 20 years and it says on the leaflet in the box now that you may gain weight. I've joined every slimming group in the world but never lose more than a few pounds. My Dr seem to infere that I don't try hard enough but when I pointed out all I do plus go to the gym the only option she could come up with was going to the dietician, so i'm off there tomorrow. sensibly I suppose the Dr are reluctant to remove you from a drug that works. So I wish you luck, it may be a choice between fit or fat free!xxk

Hi, Yes unfortunately as with all of the medications that I have tried I found that I put on weight with Lamotrigine. I find that the minute I miss a few sessions in the gym the weight creeps up. Recently I was in an accident which left me unable to attend the gym for months & I piled on a stone in a matter of weeks. It is most frustrating as I have been to the gym and the personal trainers there say I am fitter than I look and that usually with their clients weight loss is around 80% diet& 20% fitness but with me it is more 60-70% diet & 30-40% fitness. Swimming seems to be the best option for me as it relaxes me after a day of working & I just try & focus on the benefits of having a medication that controls my seizures rather than my weight. Good luck with the meds, hope it all goes well for you.
