Pill/coil/ do nothing

hi all

I am 37 , and have only just had a diagnosis for my pain - stage 1 endometrosis with maximum pain and adenomyosis diagnosis .

I would like to try to conceive and try starting in January , my consultant (nhs) has said when I want to get pregnant I can get my fallopian tubes checked for any blockage due to the endo.

Meanwhile I have been given the options of pill ( combined or mini pill), coil or an injection for early menopause ( I assume this is reversible as he knows I want a child ). I don’t yet no if I’m infertile or not and he said it’s best to find out when I actually want to start trying for children ? Which I do soon

but meanwhile I have been given options above to try . I am worried about hormonal options like the pill or coil simply for blood clots and effects on mental health. I am already on a cardiology drug that affects my mental health .

I just wanted people’s views on the best medical treatment they have had ? Also iw as told that going on the pill will prevent endo tissue from growing any further but has research actually proven this ? I thought there wasn’t a cure ?

Also if I want to try get pregnant in January is there any point going on the pill now . The only pull factors are the pain reduction and supposedly preventing further endo growth .

Hey, In my experience staying hormone free was bad, disease progressed significantly but given it’s September and you want to start trying pretty soon I would think that a few months wouldn’t be too detrimental. Long term it is best to suppress your period/own hormones if possible but that seems unnecessary on your schedule. xx

Hi, I have tried all the options you have stated and been on some form since I was 15, nothing has stopped it growing. The only long term relief I found was when I was pregnant with my children. I find contraceptives reduces symptoms for a brief period of time and then it is like my body gets used to the amount of hormone and just overrides it. I would say if you are planning to start trying relatively soon then I wouldn't take the early menopause option as I was told it would stop my periods for between 12-18 months after stopping (although again my periods returned immediately after stopping) so this is something you need to take into consideration

hey from what I’ve read online it’s my impression the pill only suppresses the symptoms and not the progression of endo but I could be wrong
