I started using a mooncup a few months ago. It certainly copes with heavy flow better than any tampon. I have found it a little difficult to use at work, remembering to take some water to rinse it out and not leaving it in too long as it's harder to empty when really full but at least I don't have to go to the loo every hour! I really do feel that the mooncup has given me a sense of freedom from the constant worry of heavy periods and having to have a large stash of huge tampons and towels wherever I go. It does take a bit of getting used to but once you do, you'll love it.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I wondered how I might manage at work. It think I'm going to to give it a go though, it certainly seems an option worth trying.

I started using a Mooncup a few months ago and haven't looked back. The relief of not having to worry about leaking or soaking through a pad has been incredible. Especially when you are in excrutiating pain from endo, the last thing you want to do is be running backwards and forwards to the toilet to change a pad! It does take a bit of getting used to how to insert it properly, watching videos online helped me. Also cutting the stem down until it felt comfortable enough help significantly. The only quarrel I have with it as an endo sufferer is that I have a constant feeling of pressure down there and even sitting or laying down is uncomfortable - this isn't caused by the Mooncup but it doesn't ease the pressure at all. That's just me though and it is actually really comfortable and easy to use, you honestly can't feel a thing if you've inserted it correctly, although at first use it may surprise you that it can 'pop' inside you just after you insert it (feels very weird lol) but that's the Mooncup has sealed itself. I usually run a finger around the edge of the cup to make sure it's sealed properly. It has measurements in ml on the side so it's pretty cool (and gross lol) to see how much or should I say how little blood we actually produce! Also it's clever if you need to monitor your bleeding/clots to report back to a healthcare provider. It only takes a minute to wash it out (or just wipe it with a tissue) and reinsert it, and it isn't any messier than a pad or tampon, so I can't ever justify going back to them now. To remove it you just pinch the base of the cup and relax your muscles and pull gently it will come out very easily and it's never spilled for me if you do it slowly! I usually sterilise it in boiled water for a few minutes after my period finishes and pop it back in the provided bag for the next cycle. And lastly the financial savings in the long run is HUGE for me, I couldn't believe how much money I'd spent on sanitary products over the years when I could've just paid £20 to last me 10+ years! Hope that helps sorry if it was tmi. X

Thank you ever so much for the tips. I'm definitely going to get one. I've had a look at some videos on you tube and think it's worth a try. I've got a feeling, like you've said, it will take some getting used to but I'm sick of worrying about leaks and I worry about the side effects/health implications of sanitary products. Thanks again!
