Covid vaccine news

My latest vax news is not to have the vaccine if you have already had Covid. I was never vaxxed and had Covid several months ago, it wasn't so bad - similar to flu I guess, although everyone suffers from infections to different degrees.

"The US CDC estimates that SARS-CoV-2 has infected more than 100 million Americans, and evidence is mounting that natural immunity is at least as protective as vaccination. "

"Dr. Hooman Noorchashm, a cardiac surgeon and patient advocate — warned the FDA that prescreening for SARS-CoV-2 viral proteins may reduce the risk of injuries and deaths following vaccination, as the vaccine may trigger an adverse immune response in those who have already been infected with the virus."

I am on-board with this! Our family moved to another state in large part to avoid a possible Covid vaxx mandate for our 6 year old, who's a year in to autoimmune encephalitis recovery. (Note: he has had all standard vaccines, that have gone through longitudinal studies...) We moved from CA to TN this summer. In CA, the powers that be have been toying with adding the Covid vaccine to the list of vaccines required to attend public school. They've delayed the decision until summer 2023, but I have zero confidence in the wisdom of the government there (this is a place that filled skateparks with dump-trucks full of sand to "fight Covid"), so we left.

I am dubious of the wisdom of taking a child who has a disregulated autoimmune system to begin with, and giving him an experimental vaccine for an illness that typically manifests as a bad cold or less in kids. The risk/benefit analysis did not make sense to me, and our household has already had Covid. Every encephalitis patient on here must decide for themselves how to proceed, but we've made our decision.

Good gracious Harper1, the thought of having to move such a great distance is troubling, to say the least. I hope that all goes much better for you and the family in TN.

I will not say too much about my opinions of CA, but let's just say I used to live in MA and got out of there for many reasons. I now live in rural PA which is much better. Unfortunately, there are two main "problem areas" here in PA that are making me wonder if I should eventually move, as well.

Wishing you all the best!

We were in CA for 3 years for my husband's work, and it went noticeably downhill even during that relatively short period of time. We know a number of people (especially those with young children) who are trying to get their ducks in a row in order to leave Los Angeles. For the first time in a century plus, California is losing, not gaining population, and the reasons are obvious. It's too bad, because California is/was such a gorgeous state.

One of the many problems there was the neurotic masking obsession, which was a nightmare for my son, as you can imagine, with his acquired brain injury from encephalitis. We had to re-teach him to speak again. (In January of this year, he could only say about 3 words.) We left CA in August, and his speech language pathologist was STILL wearing a mask at all his sessions. You can imagine how well he was relearning speech under those circumstances.

I can imagine the situation in MA as well... :(

I vaguely remember visiting PA once on a family vacation MANY years ago, and as kids, we thought we had died and gone to heaven visiting Hershey, ha. Unfortunately, that is all I remember now.

Keep us posted on how the Christmas party goes! It's such a huge achievement to make it back to the point of being able to handle a situation like that.

I'm right there with you, G2!! As I've said, I was "fully vaccinated" and still ended up getting Covid! I was down for quite a long time, too. (As I recall, I missed about 3 weeks of work.)

I don't believe the medical people know what they are doing, and are "grasping at straws" at best.

Hope you are doing better with you latest round of new adventures. I've got one very soon, and hopefully I will make it through without any embarrassment.
