Telemetry EEG

We are currently trying to convince the hospital to give my partner a longer EEG (telemetry) than the standard 1-hour. He continues to suffer from long seizures and we are keen to understand why. The reason for a wish for telemetry is that he still has seizures but not on a hourly basis. It is therefore unlikely that they will ‘capture’ a seizure in a random 1-hour slot. Has anybody got any experience with this?

IHi Tuesando, I know that I'm not medical, nor do I know your partner's medical history, so it "sounds as though" he might be epileptic to me. It's the first time I have come across the word 'telemetry' but I certainly know what an EEG is though because I have had them when I was 10, I used to have seizures that lasted 20 minute to half hour per time and they were nonstop because I was vomitting, had tge flu, tonsilitis and a fever together which triggered my grand mals off so the doctors were going to change my medications to newer ones because one was addictive, but from that point on its such a long story, so I don't have time now, but I will message you as soon as I am available again which will most probably be Wednesday evening . I am here for anyone and everyone over the holidays (except Christmas Day) incase anyone is in need of help to give our staff a break as they are off during this time bar for emergencies and I even posted/tweeted this message on Twitter because they deserve time for themselves they are only human just like the rest of us. So EVERYONE on here can please feel free to approach me anytime and I will reply A.S.A.P including those with new diagnosis or any concerns what-so-ever at least you ALL know where I am. 🙂

My daughter has epilepsy as a child and also developed autoimmune encephalitis in 2109. She underwent sleep EEG’s and even though she didn’t have a seizure during them they were able to detect whether there was any epileptic activity. That said, it’s only really a snap shot so I think a longer sleep EEG would tell more.

Hi! I’m not sure where you live, but my mom’s doctor ordered an ambulatory EEG. She had it placed at the hospital and wore it at home for a short period of time.

That’s right. That’s exactly what I’m after.

Hi Tuesando - just wondered if you managed to get the longer EEG for your partner and if so has it helped.

Thinking about you both.
