How to get better

I have scarring on both the left and right side of my brain that is a result of autoimmune encephalitis. The after effects of this include epilepsy, short and long term memory loss, speech difficulties, behavioural changes. Has anyone had surgery to remove the scarring or is this even possible?

I have had epilepsy and behavioural changes in the past when I was growing up.

No I haven't had surgery because medication changes have helped a lot!

Hi Riosmum, I am so sorry to hear about your experience. My husband had inflammation on his cerebellum which lead to scarring and neuron loss and many of the symptoms you have experienced. I do not believe that there is any surgery to fix it but hopefully, depending on the degree of scarring, the brain will make new pathways. Have you spoken to your consulatant about options? Take care
