Does anyone else suffer from clumsiness when their ME is flaring up. I walk into stuff, fall over stuff and drop things endlessly.

Am i just a clumsy cluts in my middle age or is it a noticable thing you suffer too?

Hi

I can sympathise as I to have to be extra careful as being so tired seems to take such an effort to navigate from one place to another that I do tend to forget the appendages and they seem to collide with things of their own accord if I let them. So be extra vigilant and exhaust yourself quicker or just carry on as normal and suffer by having to pick things up and mend the broken ones later. (Superglue is one of my best friends we are on first name terms, I call it super and it calls me oops)

Kindest regards

Yes I can identify with you re the falling. When i was at my illest i fell over a wheelbarrow and had crunchie fractured ribs and i also fell in the shower and still have a scar below my eye. I now when feeling unsteady just hang onto things. Sorry i have no words of wisdom to help stop things happening to you.

Thanks for your replies,

It is, in a bizarre way, reasuring to know that I am not alone in my bumps and breaks.

Love the idea of being best friends with Superglue and hanging onto things (obvioulsy not with a handful of superglue!)

Hi,

I've always been clumsy but I find when I'm having a bad day CFS wise it's so much worse. Many a time I've walked into my living room door frame even though I know it's there. I find that when I'm feeling particularly unsteady or clumsy if I slow down and really focus on what I'm doing I can avoid most accidents

Yes clumsiness is something I experience when I am tired. I usually have bruises on my arms and legs from bumping into things. I also get "dropsy" - i.e. I drop things a lot (Have smashed a lot of mugs!) and do not have a good grasp with my hands/fingers, which is worse because I also have arthritis in my fingers.
