Ckd 3
My husband has been at stage 3 for many years now. He eats only fresh foods - nothing processed which cuts down on salt and preservatives and all sorts of stuff that is added to processed foods. It is very time taking - planning meals, shopping and cooking, but I do think this has helped his kidney function stay stable.
Thx jampad
I am scared right now this is a new world! encouraged by the "for many years" comment. Does your husband drink coffee? I was wondering if coffee would be taboo. Also, does he watch his diet?
My husband had an undiagnosed blockage which caused urine to go back up to his kidney which damaged them. Once he had surgery to remove the blockage his kidneys recovered somewhat and he was diagnosed at stage 3. He was at 47%. I wonder if one of the reasons he is staying at stage three (although this fluctuates and he did once go to 3b) is because the reason for the kidney failure was eliminated. I was going to say he watches what he eats - but actually I`m the one who watches. He eats what I make, and I make sure I only serve meals that I think are healthy. He doesn`t drink coffee as he doesn`t like it. I did let things slide somewhat after so many years, but the dip to 3b encouraged me to be more vigilant.
