can multi vitamin - multi minerals supplements increase the uric acid..?
I have no qualification for my answer - I am not qualified to give advice; I am merely a layman who suffers from CKD, so I honestly don't know the answer to your question.
I have however looked on the internet for clues, but, as always have found as many sites advocating the use of vitamins to lower uric acid as I have found others suggesting that uric acid levels can be reduced by the use of some vitamins.
My wife, who is a great believer in the use of vitamins - especially high dose vitamin C has read articles that suggest that the use of vitamin additives with kidney problems is not advisable. The trouble with the kidney as an organ is that it is so inter-related with so much of the body functions that the danger of causing side effect damage is - as far as I think - not worth the risk of any potential benefits.
I did speak to a kidney dietician who told me that "what was best for me" was a good healthy diet, 20 minutes of sun each day, and plenty of fruit and vegetables. Having said that, there are foodstuffs in the fruit and vegetable range that are not good for the kidney so I would be careful, and would advise you to read as much as you can, bearing in mind that there is a lot of very doubtful advice on the internet.
Perhaps your best bet is to ask your G.P, or your kidney dietician at the hospital that is treating you.
I am sorry to be of so little help, and I hope you can find an answer to your question.
My Dietician advised me to stop multi vitamins as they are not a substitute for fresh fruit and vegetables , yes there are certain fruit and vegetables that different people can't take . Your dietician will be able to advise you best as to which ones you are to avoid . They are best to do this as they will have access to the different counts from your blood tests , And peoples systems and diets are different .
