Sitting here, five hours into the new year, without a hangover and feeling quite pleased with myself.
I like to count things and keep records, so the Drinkaware app is perfect for me. Since the first week in May when I joined this group and started using the app I find that I have had more than half the days alcohol free.
Then I look at the other statistics, I have consumed the equivalent of 24 litres of vodka which also equates to 50k calories over that eight months period, so maybe I shouldn't be feeling quite so pleased after all. Don'think that my doctor would be very impressed. But I do hasten to add this is a big improvement on the old me.
So Dry January for me.
Thanks to everyone for being supportive when I come here with my rants and ramblings ,there will probably be more in 24.

Hi YNWA68, I had a disastrous December too and let myself go over the top compared to what I would normally do. On the whole 2023 hadn't been too bad but won't go into any details. Suffice it to say that I stuck to my usual tipple all year which is wine, however December got me into the spirit of things as the saying goes😖So now I'm joining everyone on Dry January, I actually started last night giving up on all celebrations and having an early night.
Well done for pressing the restart button early 👍 I’m so looking forward to a sober January and being able to access the lifestyle I love. It beggars belief why we drink the way we do 🤦🏼♀️ but that’s why we are part of this group and the illness/addiction/alcoholism we have.
