Wonderful to read. The author needed to ask herself, if I really want to stop drinking, what more could I do to make it possible? She didn’t ask herself that because the addiction, as she pointed out that alcoholism is, won’t let her. She’s not ready to stop. And what will it take to make her stop? It’s different with each individual. It usually takes more than information and knowledge. That’s the sad part…..

You have just visited relatives you definitely need a drink
My wife as a joke is all ready visualising having a drink on 1 Feb, it will be 5 days tonight if we don't have a drink so as Isinatra says 1 day at a time and HappySwimmer is 1 day in front of us no pressure but can't give up before her haha
It’s so true isn’t it, we really do use alcohol to reward ourselves for anything! The books I read helped me to understand that it’s the things you are doing that help you relax and not the alcohol you have alongside them. I’ve replaced my trigger points with relaxing and feel good things, some I may have had alcohol with, some not and I after the 10min window of thinking ‘a drink would be nice now’ I enjoy what I’m doing. I haven’t gone for the non-alcoholic versions as I actually think that might encourage me to drink. If I could only drink on special occasions or once a month I’d be happy and have put a ring around a date in April to celebrate a good friends significant birthday, I’m hoping by then I’ll be strong enough. I’m so enjoying all the benefits of not drinking that I don’t want to give them up at all plus if I lose weight again this week at my slimming club that will be a huge motivator.
