PD for a Type II Diabetic

Does PD work if you are a type II diabetic? I understand that the fluid that you fill your abdominal cavity with is a sugar-based solution. Does that mean it has an effect on your blood sugar levels? I'm diabetic but only use an oral medication right now and do not require insulin shots. I'm just concerned that the sugar solution might not be compatible with my diabeties. Thanks in advance!
