Morning all,

Has anyone ever had an EMG done on their fistula arm?

Any advice?

Thanks

They did an emg to test why I was getting numbness in my hand, to decide if it was due to nerve compression as in carpal tunnel syndrome, or if the fistula was working too well and robbing blood from the hand. Fortunately it was carpal tunnel syndrome.

The emg had no differential effect on my arm with fistula or the other arm. It's a strange feeling somewhere between an mild electric shock causing a muscle twitch and painful cramp, but it's over as quick as it starts.

Don't worry your fistula will be fine, hope that helps

Thanks so much for the reassurance.

My consultant says it is ok but I wanted to hear from someone who had actually experienced it for themselves.

Have a good one.....😊

Yes I've had several over the years. Mine were all carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel. No AVF or AVG issues with this testing. Best wishes
