I have just had the paperwork through regarding having my fistula made.
This says that it could be put in the wrist or elbow area. My doctor seemed to indicate mine would be in the wrist. My father had his nearer to his elbow.
Does anyone know how this is decided and which if any is preferable?
Thanks.....
Margaret

My current fistula, now 18 years old, was made in my forearm, but developed up my arm over the years, so I now have one needle in my forearm and the other above my elbow, so it may be more beneficial to have it made nearer your wrist in the long term as I am not aware of any fistulas developing 'downwards'.
