Eat less more times in a day.

Don't consume food after 8:00 pm.

Use fiber rich foods every day.

Adopt low-carbohydrate diet.

Walk for 15 minutes after every meal.

Welcome to the group Ms Vanita. The diets for diabetics should

1. raise the blood sugar least

2. provide sufficient energy for the body to function efficiently

3. provide essential vitamins and minerals

4. be sustainable and enjoyable to eat

Protein and Fat are essential building blocks without which human body cannot survive for long. Carbohydrate is NOT ESSENTIAL BUILDING BLOCK for the survival of the human body. However, carbohydrate does provide several essential vitamins and minerals.

Carbohydrate raises the blood sugar most followed by protein and rise in blood sugar due to Fat is the least.

We the diabetics cannot process the carbohydrate efficiently like non-diabetics hence it raises the blood sugar beyond the safe limits.

Following the above reasoning, it makes sense that the Diets for Diabetics should have

Low Carbs.Good Fat (LCGF) and moderate protein.

This is the basic principle of Diets for Diabetics. The proportions of C, P, and F will depend on the individual requirements and can be designed accordingly.

There is no specific or special diet for diabetics. That said, you have to necessarily make some additions and modifications to your existing diet based on few basic principles.By adapting these basic principles to your existing diet, you will achieve a higher success rate because that suits your tastes and choices. To start with, you should be aware what you are eating, how much you are eating and at what times. For all items of food you consume,a glycemic index is assigned based on how much the sugar level spikes after consuming it.So,glucose is given GI of 100 and greens like palak 0.Other foods fall in between. They are classified high, medium and low glycemic foods. To be wise,we avoid high glycemic foods, consume medium G.I foods moderately and be rather generous with low glycemic foods. If you search the net,you will get glycemic values of all foods you consume and you can plan your diet accordingly.Point to remember is,if you consume too much of even medium or low G.I foods, they will ultimately cause elevated sugar levels. So,portion control is critical.Eat smaller meals with in between snacks.Lastly.keeping regular meal timings is very helpful to keep the sugar levels even.
