orange juice, sugar candy, or any juice high in sugar after checking the sugar if it's low.

Keep a close watch on your physical condition.Do not hungry for the next 6 to 7 hours. If you feel any symptoms of hypo start consuming fruit juice or candy in small quantities until normalcy is restored.Test your sugar level during this episode to be sure.

normalcy is restored.Test your sugar level during this episode to be sure.

no question of worry. If you nave any system then take fruit juice with sugar immediately. Then test sugar level.

Immediate remedy is to consume glucose with water as suggested by doctors always. if water is not available on hand when out of reach mere glucose will do. There is a substitute available in medical shop called Hypotab which can be carried and chewed (not to swallow) to get instantaneous relief.

As mentioned by earlier responders either glucose / sugar candy or any other sweet will do to get recovery from / avert hypoglycemia. Some patients on multiple drugs like VOGLIBOSE along with Insulin are suppose to take GLUCOSE only as absorption of cabohydrate in any other form will get delayed very long.At this juncture i would like to remind few more instances which may cause hypoglycemia.

1.incresed medication as mentioned earlier here.

2.decresed food intake even during normal medication

3.time variation in taking medicines and food

4 incresed physical activity even when during normal diet and medicines

5 during illness..especially vomiting and loose stools.

6 excess alcohol.

The suggestion of menonpkv is THE BEST. Fruit, fruit juice, candy etc will take time to pass on glucose to blood, sugar/glucose will straight away enter blood right from mouth. It will work even for a hypoglycemic coma case; just open the mouth by force & put some sugar/glucose in. As in a magic show, the person will wake up!
