To reply more specifically to your question, yes, you can use products containing bitter gourd (karela) a number of companies make capsules and tablets under different brand names. I started on them while in India, and find that it reduces insulin intake considerably. Also talk to your doctor about changing your insulin protocol to analog, basically separating the delayed action and instantaneous insulin in 2 injections

Well, you are on Mixtard 30/70. You need to understand that 30 % is short and fast acting to reduce the sugar levels. Where as 70% is long acting and reduces the sugar levels slowly. It makes the insulin available in the body for about 12 hours.

These types of insulin should be taken only 2 times a day and not three. Only regular insulins are taken three times a day.

Further... What is your blood sugar level? What is your HbA1c level?

Are you taking tab metformin?

No. Aurvedic treatment hardly helps unless you are ardent fan of some fake guru or baba or sants. They are just drug peddlers like any. Mixtard is now only available in few developing country & NOVO has discontinued this in Europe & USA for more than 2 years.Ask your doctor to review this. He may switch this. You also needed to indicate your diabetes type, i.e. 1 or 2 to have better advise. You would also need to go for dosage adjustments.

My mother was diagnosed with diabetes twenty two years ago and the doctor gave her regular pills for the same. When I checked the brochure it was showing 40 different side effects. We got the regular ayurvedic local powder made of Karela, Gurmaar Patti, jamun seeds and neem seeds and she has been keeping very close to 109 and now she is 87. Most people in northern india know about this powder and it is easily available. Godblesss
