You may suffer due to hypoglycemia.So keep some food within reach like marie biscuits.But this is not,as per my humble view,how you manage insulin administration.Work out a system or schedule that automatically prevents accidental overdose.

Adjustment of insulin dosage should invariably be made with doctor's advice, depending on your food intake, as otherwise you run the risk of hypoglycemia leading to complications. If, however, the dosage's doubled inadvertently, drink milk with sugar and/or eat a banana.

never take insulin dosage more than recommended by your Doctor.if it is not under control, pl. consult your Doctor. Always take sugar or sweet items if feel low sugar. share your experiences but don't become Doctor.

@Nitins

Well said.

Or perhaps, there would be no further chance of committing any mistake.

@Kismis

No sarcasm intended. Pls never ever commit the mistake of overdosing with insulin.

Keeping sweets, etc nearby are all ok. But, in the night, the chance of thinking level-headedly with low sugar is pretty difficult & many people don't even wake up, going directly in to coma.

I have been there (low sugar in the night) & that too, only with oral medicines, not even insulin. Got down from my bed & just fell down. For 5 mins, if not more, was totally dis-oriented & did not even know where I was. Luckily after 5 mins, realized what was happening & took corrective action.

Glucose (Glucon-D) powder or spoonful or two of sugar is more helpful, as it gets absorbed fast.

Pls be careful.

Thanks

I FULLY AGREE WITH RECYAN ANSWER.ONE SHOULD REPEAT THESE MISTAKES.NOT TO CONSIDER INSULIN DOSE AS FUN. I AM ALSO DIABETIC SINCE LAST 20 YEARS AND FIRST I WAS ON TABLETS FOR 14 YEARS AND NOW ON INSULIN SINCE LAST 6 YEARS.
