I was having BS since March 2012, am 62 yrs now. I used to take one or two normal (40-45 ml)peg whisky 4-5 days in a week before going to dinner. Few months back I was having trembling hands and head while sitting in official meetings etc. My sugar level is mostly between 95 to 102 fasting and 130 to 142 PP since May last year till now.. Doctor said it is under control. For trembling, Doctor said, may be it is due to low sugar, once I checked up, it was 65 during trembling time. Dr. asked me to take one or two tablespoon glucose powder or a glass of juice. I have done it, within 15-20 minutes I got normal. I was taking Glisen MP2 500 Mg one in the morning and one in the night before meals. From last year June, doctor told me to take Glisen only once along with 1 multi vitamin tab and 1 calcium tab. Now I feel more healthy and energetic and there is no trembling thereafter. This is my one of the recent experience in Blood Sugar life.

Do you taking "Glisen PM2"? It contains three fixed drug combinations viz., Glimepiride 1/2mg + Metformin (ER) 500 mg + Pioglitazone 15 mg.

Pioglitazone and its fixed combinations with other anti-diabetic drugs: The drug is banned in India. By a notification on 18 June 2013, Indian government has suspended manufacture and sale of this drug in India with immediate effect. This drug may cause heart failure and bladder cancer.

If your medicine contains pioglitazone, change the prescription in consultation with your doctor.

Here are some other ways that alcohol can affect diabetes:--

* While moderate amounts of alcohol can cause blood sugar to rise, excess alcohol can actually decrease your blood sugar

level -- sometimes causing it to drop into dangerous levels.

* Beer and sweet wine contain carbohydrates and may raise blood sugar.

* Alcohol stimulates your appetite, which can cause you to overeat and may affect your blood sugar control.

* Alcohol can interfere with the positive effects of oral diabetes medicines or insulin.

* Alcohol may increase triglyceride levels.

* Alcohol may increase blood pressure.

* Alcohol can cause flushing, nausea, increased heart rate, and slurred speech.

* MayoClinic.com indicates that B vitamin deficiencies directly affect nerve health and lack of these vitamins as well as vitamin E and niacin, contribute to polyneuropathy. Additionally, excessive use of alcohol can reduce vitamin absorption leading to symptoms of polyneuropathy.

* A major medical consequence of alcoholism is a person's much greater risk for brain attacks (stroke).

* Alcoholism can cause alcoholic cardiomyopathy and heart disease associated with high blood pressure.

* Severe inflammation of the pancreas with severe abdominal pain and nausea.

* Increased incidence of cancer. (A drinker is six times more likely to get mouth and throat cancer as compared to a nondrinker.)

Shivering can be due to low sugar as well as alcoholism. In either case it is not good.

TAKING MEDICINES ALONE WILL NOT BRING DOWN BLOOD SUGAR ALWAYS. THAT IS WHY PATIENTS ARE FORCED TO MOVE FROM EXERCISE TO DIET CONTROL TO LOW DOSE TABLETS TO HIGHER DOSE TABLETS TO INSULIN INJECTION AND COMBINATIONS OF THESE. YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR FOOD HABITS & LIFE STYLE ALSO TEMPORARILY TILL CURE.
