Effects of Coconut

Coconut is said to increase both HDL and LDL.

HDL is supposed to help cleaning up bad cholesterol.

Then how come LDL also is increasing along with HDL. If coconut is helping to increase HDL, why is it not helping bad cholesterol, why both HDL and LDL are increasing? Seeing some contradiction here around this coconut story. Pls share your opinions on coconut and HDL and LDL. Am not talking coconut oil. Just raw coconut meat.

Will that not defeat the benefit of coconut? If it is taken to increase hdl to help fight bad cholesterol by that hdl, and if that increased hdl is not helping to decrease ldl, instead substantially increasing ldl numbers, that will have overall bad effect on the body, right? Does hdl have any other benefits other than fighting bad cholesterol?

Ok. Thnx for the detail. My hdl moved from 25 to 37 and ldl moved from 105 to 152. Both hdl and ldl increased proportionately not in terms of simple numbers but by raise. Both increased 50% each, so the ratio more or less remained same.

For that small benefit of small difference in the ratio, the bad cholesterol has become quite high. Upto 100, it is normal and it used to be around normal or near border but it increased 50% above normal. Can that compensate for such very small benefit of ratio?

Hba1c 5.7 yesterday. Fasting insulin is 8.55, 3 months ago.

I meant different, is it worth jeopardising ldl to such high levels from109 to 150 for such an insignificant increase in the ratio. Better ratio is after all meant for overall cholesterol levels per my understanding. There is hardly any improvement in the ratio but substantial worsening of ldl. Unable to understand such insignificant improvement in the ratio can be considered as overall benefit inspite of such a big jump in bad cholesterol levels.
