Today, for the first time in 7 years I have a reading of 5.7mmol on getting out of bed. All my readings since diagnosis have been never lower than 10 or even more. I believe it's smoothie replacement meals cutting out carbs. Go me!

Amazing
Congratulations VonnyM to success. May I ask how did you manage your diabetes during those 7 years? Did you try some diet or medicines? My husband experienced immediate. decrease of blood glucose after starting LCHF diet. His usual morning levels of blood glucose before breakfast is around 5, 8 mol/l. Sometimes little higher 6, 1 mol /l.
Those 7 years were frustrating, following the NHS diet guidelines didn't help at all, started a new way of eating, hflc but replacing also a meal, usually lunch, with a green smoothie, it took a while to get used to it, but I honestly felt better I continued to take my meds, glipizide, metformin and galvus. Drink lots of water too.
Hi again VonnyM. When we started LCHF diet my husband was very ill (heart kollaps except diabetes) So we both decided to use hard line. No carbohydrates ay all (they are som even at vegetables, that is OK) , no sugar at all, no alcohol at all. He lost 24 kg, during following 3 months. Today he has normal blood pressure and his blood sugar is OK . But ONLY with extremely careful HFCL diet. It is worth it.
I am not diabetic but eat the same food as husband. There are a lot of HFLC recipes and we are trying them. If my 77 years husband could do it than even you can !!!. It is very usefull to measure your blood sugar and follow what food is good for managing blood sugar. There is numbe of factors influencing BG but we took it step by step. I am reading, googling and motivating. May be you can get support from family or some friend.
With wishes of success and all best.
