Why people are afraid of diabetes?
Patliputra, just wondered, you ask a lot of interesting questions on several of the health unlocked groups, but you never seem to give any hint as to why you are asking the questions and what your experiences of diabetes and healthy eating are.
Are you diabetic and if so are you T1 or T2, and what do you do to keep your levels on track? What type of healthy eating plan do you follow, are you looking to lose weight? I would be interested to hear more about your experiences.
I'm T2 on metformin and diet and currently on a no added sugar and no processed food plan but it doesn't mean that I won't ever have anything naughty again, far from it, I'm off out to lunch with my friends today (one is T2 on insulin) and hope to have a healthy lunch with a couple of treats ;).
Ceejayblue,
I am a diabetic t2 thirty years. Apart from metformin and other oral anti diabetics, I am on insulin ,morning and night. I also suffer from hypertension and CHD with by pass surgery and implantation of pace maker. That for my medical history..
I am not overweight and my BMI is 23. About my meal plans nothing specific. No processed food. No refined flour,no soft or hard drink and of course usual other dietary restrictions But exception is seasonal fruits which I always eat. My HbA2c is 6. Please let me know what I have missed. I will try to fill in the gap.
So afraid of it, I don't acknowledge it. . . Am an intelligent maturish woman who should know better. Doc calls it a death wish. . . Family don't notice (or don't comment) on my inability to control it and improve diet. All in all as i can't see the symptoms it's not that bad yet! Threatened with insulin many times and have not taken meds in some time. . . Wish I had your ability to face it and deal with it, but I don't and despite moments of facing it head on. . . I am again in a place where I won't acknowledge it. 10 years of uncontrolled t2!
