Hello, I'm sorry that you're finding yourself in this situation. But the good news is there's plenty you can do to help yourself. Have you discussed your blood test results with a diabetes specialist nurse? Or a dietitian or both? If you live in the UK and signed up with a GP, they should be able to refer you to a specialist nurse. The nurse will be able to give you targeted advice and support. They maybe able to refer you to a cookery programme that teaches healthy cooking methods and recipes.

In the meantime other things that you could do is look in to Professor Roy Taylor's low carb diet that has shown great results. This diet was popularised by the late Michael Mosley.

Exercise is definitely recommended. If you like me aren't much in to it, I suggest trying different types of exercise to see which works for you the best. I personally find rowing (at the gym), walking, and swimming the best. Both walking and swimming are low impact and gentle ways of getting fit.

All the best! You can beat this.

Thank you so much for your reply, I have ordered the Micheal Mosley 8 wk diet plan. I already go to SlimmingWorld I have already lost a stone and want to lose another to be at the weight I would be happy with. I will ask to see the diabetic nurse at my surgery too. You take care

What did the doctor or diabetic nurse say?

Please write down your food and drinks intake daily before you start on ant plan?

Hi, I haven’t got an appointment yet they are short of nurses But I’ve got books from the library and my husband sent off for information for me so I’m ok. Thankyou for thinking of me.
