Ive been having problems with my stomach not emptying on a night . I've stopped eating at night and make my 5pm meal my last one. Its been happening for a few months now and I've just realized it's since I've started taking metformin. Has anyone else had this problem.

Metformin definitely affects your stomach. Make sure you take the tablets with food. The effect does wear off over time.

This is a common side effect of Metformin, along with diarrhea, stomach ache, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. More seriously, it will also block your bodies ability to process Vitamin B12, which can then lead to permanent neuropathy in your feet and hands. I no longer take it for this reason, as my neuropathy is now permanent and I wasn't warned by my doctor of this side effect. Plus, it really didn't lower my blood sugar enough to justify the side effects. So, if you take it, I highly recommend you take Vitamin B12 as well in the hopes you can avoid neuropathy. But I get much better results lowering my blood sugar being on a low carb or keto diet, though these diets aren't fun for me and I miss carbs desperately.

Thanks nightbird . That's good advice. Didn't know about the body not being able to process B12 . I may have a rest from metformin now and again and take b12 in doing so.

My pleasure. It's a hard road controlling your blood sugar, so feel free to message me anytime if you need anything. Take care.
