Hard lumps where there are gaps

I am a vigorous brusher which may be worsening this. Over many years I lost the five leftmost teeth on my upper left and similar on the right apart from one molar. Over time little some little hard lumps came up on the gaps mainly on the chewing edge and the inner cheek side. I can’t remember the name given to the condition but was told it was not a concern. Over the past year they have got bigger or swell overnight and decrease again as the day goes on. I am aware of them but they are not exactly painful. I rub Gengigel or Bonjela on them. I did at one time have an upper denture but had many problems with it and gave up on it.

Hi there Seasider18, sorry to hear of your troubles, i hope you find a solution or at least some good advice here, to help you get through.

I am in pretty much the same situation as yourself, having had the teeth removed at the beginning of the year, i also have little hard lumps on a couple of points of my upper gum; my dentist reassured me that they are just little protrusions of bone on the jaw, nothing to be concerned about.

I haven't had any issues with these protrusions, have you discussed things with your dentist, perhaps you could try taking a photograph the next time it flares, have something to show the dentist at your next appointment; sod's law says you make an appointment but by the time it comes round things will have calmed down.

Do you rinse with salt water or anything, i had canker sores recently and it was suggested to me to rinse with Salt and Bicarbonate of Soda, it's wasn't pleasant but cleared my sores quickly.

Good luck and the very best for the future, remember and be kind to yourself.

Stay safe, keep well & be strong.

Hi,

I rinse with salt twice a day but I can't say that it helps. They are not sores but can look redder than the rest of the gums. They can even suddenly get bigger and the area can feel rather on the brink of being painful and just as suddenly revert. I've tried photographing them but It is difficult to get good ones.

There is always the hope that they are a third set of teeth that will suddenly come through !
