I am at the request of Tom I and Jon S. writing an article on this subject for an October Time line. It will be based upon the release of an update of a 2007 report on the actual costs of PD to the Australian Government and the Community at large.

The original report was looked at by PDF in the USA and many European countries and seems to match their experience.
