DBS surgery: Hi I have been put forward for... - Cure Parkinson's
DBS surgery
za brain MRI and my sergeon had me styop meds 12 hrs before an appointment and video taped me walking etc then gave me my mes and video taped me on thge meds n hour later, then there was pre op stuff with my regular doctor. The day of surgery a halo screwed into my head and another brain MRI. Nothing to a afraid of.
I had one side of my brain done in 2006! Now considering doing the other side! Was not a bad experience for me at all! And so happy that I did! Some quality of life for awhile to me was an opportunity I could not pass on. For myself I didn't even have to think about it! And I don't like to have time to think ahead about things! Once I decide, just do it and get it over with! But we are all different in how we make decisions an approach them! Just my view is all!
May I ask your age? My husband is 67 and doesn't feel like surgery is for him. He's had PD for 20 years and upping his carbi/levodopa meds regularly. I wonder how long before he changes his mind.
Hi sorry was a way for a few days. I am 55 and had it for 14 years
I have had a lot of problems since March as I was taken of pergolide which suited me verynmuch.Ihave just got a copy of my medical records and am very annoyed as I have bee4n lied to .
Had DBS at 69! After 16 yrs. all I can say ....do it !!! Pre op stuff is not bad ....... MRI Mobility test and cognitive skills. Going without meds. Was toughest. Buzz cut and partially shaved head really was not bad
I am 61! Female! I did not have to shave my head! Just a little where they had to work! The rest covered it up! But may not be the case with someone with short hair! The tests are a piece of cake, I thought! It's something he needs to discuss with his doctor and let him make his own decision! Every person is different!
