A Single Step...

The longest journey starts with a single step.

Before I began to suffer from Pd six years ago I was reasonably fit and liked to run on the treadmill listening to my favourite band Runrig. I still listen to them but the treadmill gathers dust in the garage.

My balance affected my running and I got disillusioned by not being able to run like I used too. I haven't exercised much since apart from yoga on the Wii!

My wife has recently been diagnosed with RA. Looking for a low impact way for her to exercise we thought of Aqua fit at the local pool.

Our first class is in 90 minutes time...

I'll let you know how it goes.

I sure can relate. Was the gym then treadmill and now because of pain and weakness in the legs it is all I can do just to get around. Good luck helping your wife. ~~Dennis

Isnt it worth trying john colemans symptom recovery method? He was like you are and is now symptom free. I would get the treadmill out and keep persevering in little steps. I did it yesterday at the gym walking at 4 km per hour and it was ok...i was a little bit worried but it was ok....will have to keep trying. Im sure it will improve slowly..

It's hard to look back at the races, triathalon and marathon I once did and compare that to the shuffle, shuffle when I'm "off" now. I believe exerciise is key to function so I keep moving.

Me too. I get out and walk two miles with my walker, now that I know I can do it. It's not pretty :D A year ago I thought I was homebound for good. Classes are great.

Class was ok. I was a bit too tall to get the benefit of the aqua part but I'll persevere.
