Bad back

t looks like I'll be stuck on the couch all day. So plenty of time to make a pest of myself. I sent this to friends in a runner's group:

Lately all I seem to do is whine about myself.

Like now: Yesterday I spent a few hours on the treadmill with several HIIT sprints at 15% grade, the highest the 'mill can do. I watched the calorie burn and every 100 calories I stopped to do a 60 second plank.

The treadmill workout is something I've done for years and the same for the planks. But never both in a day.

And today I woke up with spasms in my back. Bad enough to take a bunch of ibuprofen. I tried a lidocaine cream but I'm still attached to the couch with no wish to do anything more than watch the idiot box.

Whine, whine, whine, getting old, getting old, getting old. Whine some more.

Try some Tropricin. It's a lotion. You can get it from Amazon or maybe a drugstore. It works good for me. 🥊

You call it whining but it sounds like bragging :) A few hours on the treadmill? I am very impressed.

I used to do an hour a day on the treadmill, but I had to bribe myself with 2 or 3 stouts while treading the mill (and watching music videos [I have the world's best music video playlist: youtube.com/playlist?list=P... ]).

No Braggadocio meant. Before PD I ran 100mile races. In comparison these days my workouts are pathetic.

Wow. 100 mile race. That's a quadruple marathon, right? Yikes!

Close. Marathon became 26.2 miles at the London Olympics when the queen wanted the finish line to be visible from their balcony. Before that it was generally 25 miles.

Not quite Kaypeeoh! The Queen Bess story is apocryphal. Pheidippides ran 26.2 miles (the distance between the site of the Battle of Marathon and Athens) to bring the news of the victory over the Persians. But you seem to have had the edge on him! Back inflexibility and its effects are an unpleasant part of my life with PD. I have found no relief except - a good quality memory foam mattress really helps me with a topper to reduce the heat which seems to be its only drawback. Also PT concentrating on range of movement and muscular strength in that area helps. Just keep stretching (but not as much as poor Pheidippides who died after delivering the news)!

Bragged about the workout but forgot to mention once i was done I sat in the FIR sauna for an hour. The device is tent-like. I sit in a plastic chair and zip it up to my neck. I felt like crap all of yesterday and never left the couch. Then today I went back-and-forth to the toilet trying unsuccessfully to have a BM. Finally with the help of a suppository I managed a BM. The effort was Homeric. It tells me I need to redouble efforts to get an Rx for Linzesse.

Do you think that sweating induced by the sauna caused constipation related to dehydration? Need to ensure you drink enough to keep up.

I was drinking dilute Gatorade but obviously not enough.
