Was on Requip XL for PD. Began at 24 mg and reduced to 12 mg (3 x daily). Really helped reduce PD symptoms but developed sexual and shopping compulsions. Almost ruined marriage and family. Switched to Sinimet and compulsions stopped after several weeks. Sinimet doesn't work as well but worth the change.

From all the information I have read, swollen feet and ankles are not necessarily a side effect of medications for Parkinsons, but a result, in part, of the drop in blood pressure that is common in people with Parkinsons. The feet and legs become red or pink in color as the blood pools in the area due to sluggish circulation.Exercise to increase circulation can help, as well as sleeping with a pillow under the feet to keep the blood from collecting there.

I read your comment and notice you sleep with a pillow under the feet

Not particulalry recommended really as it can cause problems with blood clots.

Best way is to either raise the bed feet or put a pillow under the mattress to raise your feet then there is no pressure on the back of your legs.

Yes, and the hair on my legs (acceptable in a male) disappeared - smoother than a wax. My pharmacist switched me to Ralnea XL, and abra cadabra - my legs fell off. Sorry - couldn't resist that one. Excellent result.

Ralnea XL is available in the same doses as Ropinerole, and I take the slow release ones.

Discuss it with your GP.

Good luck
