I know this might seam stupid , rest your ankle in the elevated position and if you can place some ice in a bag on the ankle be carfull not to burn your ankle with the frozen ice , may i suggest you put a tea towel on the affected area then place ice or frozen peas ( still in there bag) on your ankle do this for about 20mins at a time and your swollen ankle will sone get back to normal, for night time sleep if you are one of the luck Parkies that can sleep with your foor on a pillow this will also reduce the swelling

Apart from that i have no idea

Have a good weekend

I didn't know that the swollen ankles was a PD thing as I have suffered with edema for several years...when I last saw my PC several weeks ago he looked at them and said "I thought that was from you had broken an ankle before <?????>"....I learn something here on this blog everyday...love the bag of peas in tea towel it is a relief!!!!!

Compression socks. They say to ask your doctor first but my swelling is mild and I just went and bought the "mild" compression socks at Walgreen's. They're less useful now that it's getting up into the 80s.

WE RAISE THE FOOT OF THE BED 4- 6 INCHES AND THAT REALLY HELPS - IT US SITTING WHICH MAKES IT WORSE SO WHEN YOU DO SIIT, RAISE YOUR LEGS ONTO A CUSHION ON A FOOT STOOL

I have edema in both legs, ankles, and feet. I am getting compression socks and a device that makes it easier to put them on. I like the frozen pea idea.

It is important to ask your Dr before using compression socks. The swelling in your feet and ankles can be due in part, to the low blood pressure and poor circulation associated with PD. When you use compression socks you further restrict blood flow. This can potentially cause other complications, especially if you have other conditions such as diabetes in addition to Parkinsons. Exercising to get the blood moving, then sitting with your feet elevated can help move the pooling blood and fluid out of your feet and ankles.
