im sorry- I got stuck in ur low bucket like chair at the weekend. I suppose I am in year 4 of it;;;good to find a solution; The ms woman said -video on this web site got out of her wheel chair by living on cup fulls of green veg etc;;; we have to try anything natural that is good for brains..!

I would imagine a diet of green veg would affect the intestinal tract to such a degree as to jet propel her out of any situation.

When I can't get up, Ii think of what the therapist told me in rehab: "nose over toes" Even HALF AN INCH makes a huge difference. Try it.I was amazed.

Balance is big right now. . . a few falls. My current PT is extremely helpful. But we all have to keep moving. Anytime my balance goes to hell I just remember the PT in the hospital. I learned a lot from her.

Hi Hilary.

You and I share the swimming problem. I could never float until I developed Parkinsons. Now I cannot stop!!

The deckchair problem happened to me recently - actually it was a lounger. The only way I could get up was to roll out of it. Not very elegant and quite painful! I have now found that I need to position my chair, or lounger, near to something I can grab on to to lever my way out. Not always easy. Or to ask for help if anyone is near.

Sure these little problems keep our minds active.

Sue :-)

I have the same problem. I used to love being in the pool. Now I won't go by myself because I can't keep my feet down either. However, last week we purchased some 2 1/2 pound ankle weights and strapped them on, worked perfectly.

I loved swimming but am now scared to do my matronly breaststroke up and down the pool .;;;;;;I have to work hard on one arm to keep in a straight line and then get exhausted and too scared to put my feet down -have to make sure I am near a side rail to grab it....any easy solutions;;nose is over toes!!!Friend here in Brussels wants me to go swimmming with her but its all lanes or a too shallow baby pool..;;

I know exactly how you feel. The little confidence I had has disappeared. I will only enter a pool if I can be near a side rail. I used to really enjoy going in the sea when on holiday, but this is another pleasure denied to me as even the smallest of waves scare me. Must try harder!

I would suggest keeping a set of walking sticks nearby to help propell you out of lowchairs.
