FDA Approves Third Treatment for PD in Less Than a Year

On February 4, the FDA approved Onapgo, an under-the-skin, infusion-based treatment for Parkinson’s. Onapgo is designed for people with progressing PD and uses a continuous infusion to help control motor symptoms such as tremor. “This approval represents another step forward in the treatment of people with Parkinson’s who experience motor fluctuations,” says Rachel Dolhun, MD, DipABLM, principal medical advisor at MJFF.

"In February 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Onapgo (apomorphine hydrochloride), an under-the-skin device that delivers continuous infusion of apomorphine for the treatment of “off” time and motor fluctuations, or ups and downs in symptom control, throughout the day in people with progressing Parkinson’s disease (PD)."

"The emetic properties of apomorphine are exploited in veterinary medicine to induce therapeutic emesis in canines that have recently ingested toxic or foreign substances."

Golly, can hardly wait.
