anyone remembers of GEROVITAL? Someone of you tried it?

in the 1950s, this drug was in auge among Hollywood stars and heads of state. A few U.S.-based antiaging and longevity clinics have begun to advertise Gerovital H3 in pill form and as intravenous infusions despite the fact that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) banned it in 1982.

it appears to be a form of novacaine

Gerovital is a preparation, primarily consisting of procaine hydrochloride, promoted as an anti-aging treatment, with its main active ingredient being procaine, a local anesthetic also known as Novocaine; other potential ingredients in different Gerovital formulations may include benzoic acid, potassium phosphate, and disodium phosphate depending on the specific product.

Key points about Gerovital:

Active ingredient: Procaine hydrochloride

Claimed benefits: Anti-aging effects, improved energy levels, enhanced cognitive function

Origin: Developed in the 1950s by Romanian researcher Ana Aslan

Controversies: While marketed as an anti-aging treatment, scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness is limited and its use is often considered controversial.

The sodium salt of benzoic acid, sodium benzoate, is a result of the metabolism of cinnamaldehyde, the active ingredient in cinnamon. It has been shown to be beneficial in Parkinson's. Details in the comments here: healthunlocked.com/cure-par...

I guess I should have made a comment before putting the information about the Gerovital on here. My thoughts were along the line of this - I would not think that consuming something that is akin to novacaine would be a good idea.

I agree with you. My comment about benzoate is just a possible reason why some people may have experienced benefit. But one can easily consume Ceylon cinnamon instead and get the benefit without whatever the downside may be of procaine.
