There are studies out there - is anyone using this in their diet?

Bacopa monnieri, also known as Brahmi, has been studied for its potential benefits in treating Parkinson's disease (PD) due to its neuroprotective properties.

Here are some key points:

Neuroinflammation Reduction: Bacopa monnieri helps reduce neuroinflammation, which is a significant factor in the progression of PD. It suppresses pro-inflammatory cytokines and decreases the levels of α-synuclein, a protein associated with PD.

Antioxidant Properties: The herb exhibits strong antioxidant properties, helping to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reduce oxidative stress, which is crucial in managing PD.

Motor Function Improvement: Studies have shown that Bacopa monnieri can improve motor function in animal models of PD. It increases the expression levels of dopamine transporter (DAT) and vesicular monoamine transporter (VMAT) genes, which are important for dopamine regulation.

Cognitive Benefits: Apart from its effects on motor symptoms, Bacopa monnieri also has cognitive-enhancing properties, which can be beneficial for individuals with PD who often experience cognitive decline.

In the studies, dosages typically ranged from 300 to 450 mg/day

Hi,

I've been taking Bacopa (DoubleWood brand) 450 mg, 2/day, for several years now. I feel it's probably been beneficial cognitively, with low chance of just being a placebo effect.
