In the UK "Everyone Active" is offering free access to fitness training. Before I start enrolment does anyone use this? Any hidden costs etc? G

I don't know about the UK, but anything free in the USA leads to a paid version :)

I know someone signed up a good while now. They get free gym access and , I think classes.Normally £30-40.

I guess it doesnt cost them to allow a few parkies to their existing centers and it maybe looks good for them. Win win.

Thanks, looks like I will be signing up then, I have one of the gyms quite close to me. I must buy some new shorts :-) G

PureGym have a similar arrangement with 12 months free for PWP and a carer if needed. No restrictions on what time of day.

with everyone active you register for a Parkinson’s membership giving free access to gym, swim and classes. You can add up to 3 carers who can only go free if they are booked on the session by you. You have to go into the centre to add carers and may have to show proof of diagnosis when setting up your membership. Carers remain attached to your membership for 3 months then you have to go back in and add them again which is a pain.

Puregym seems to vary . Some allow a carer to workout with the person with PD some will only allow carer to watch.

I signed up nearly a year ago. There is no catch. The offer appears to have been organized through the charity, Parkinson’s UK. A regular gym routine and swimming have really helped me to manage my symptoms. Do it - you have nothing to lose. X

Here’s what I got from Puregym after enquiring about being an existing member hoping to change to the 12 month offer: 😠

‘’ This is an auto response, we believe you’ve contacted us about joining. Great to hear you're interested! It's really easy to join, just head to our website and follow this process;

Go to Join Now

Choose a gym

Select your membership type and follow the steps

Our monthly packages all come with no contract which gives you the freedom to leave whenever you want. Alternatively, our day passes are great for those just trying out our gyms before applying for full membership.’’

🤔 I don’t really get the feeling that they’re making the offer out of compassion!

I had that too jeeves19 . The auto system doesn’t offer the free deal. Had to speak to gym manager and she sorted pretty quickly. Been going to a couple of circuits classes a week for 4 months now. Loving it🙌

I have this membership & have had for some time. Completely free for all facilities in your local centre & at other EA sites. Did have an issue that I was asked to pay if I tried booking a session via the app but this was sorted out promptly when I took a letter from my consultant that stated I had Parkinson's. Go for it!
