I read somewhere that Niacin helps with sleep.
Niacin also gives heart issues
I also read that article on Niacin but in the meantime found out more about it, see below. Perhaps you can fact check and come back to us.
Many of you have been asking about this recent article...
Since I already recognized this as a Big pHarma hit piece, I decided it wasn't worth spending $40 to buy their pdf. But because there are daily inquiries to both this group and the Niacin B3 Discussions group (I am a moderator for that group), I decided to reach out to one of the top experts on niacin: Jason Carter
Here's his summarized response:
Yes, the "study" was clearly set up to fail... They utilized time release niacin in combination with a statin on two groups of patients already undergoing cardiac risk assessments, meaning they more than likely already had some degree of vascular inflammation even before taking the niacin... The study's conclusions are directly oppositional to the decades of research on flush niacin from Dr. Hoffer, Dr. Kaufmann, Dr. Parsons, and numerous intrepid others... As we both know, Dr. Hoffer in particular has detailed research showing quite clearly that flush niacin RESTORES the blood vessels, and RESOLVES vascular inflammation... quite the opposite of this study, which is clearly a smear campaign against original flush niacin.... Just the fact that this new study was parroted by the HollyWEIRD mainstream media shows that this is an effort to dissuade people from using original flush niacin, so yes, the word is spreading, and Pharma is terrified...w
Lot's of good posts on Niacin and B3 you might want to look at. Especially this one:
Vitamin B3 trial results
Results of a pilot study of 2 low doses (100 & 250mg) of Niacin (vitamin B3 derivative) in 47 people with #Parkinsons; 3-month double-blinded (vs placebo) run-in + 12 month open label study; 3.5 point average improvement in the UPDRS III, inflammation healthunlocked.com/cure-par...
Thanks for the link. Good to know...
Conclusion of study linked in HU linked post:
"We have demonstrated the potential effectiveness of over-the-counter niacin enhancement as a proof of concept to support the well-being of individuals with PD. Vitamin B3 augmentation has the potential to maintain or improve symptoms. Based on the results of this effectiveness exploratory trial, a larger multicenter RCT is warranted."
Bolt_Upright , I read somewhere "not to take time released". I take 500mg sustained release and 100mg Niacin at Bed time. The time release may or may not give me the flush, but with the 100 quarantined...
Well I am doing 3 grams per day 1.5 in the mornng and 1.5 in the evening. Zero flush but I have been using 500mg or highter for the past few years with my daily sauna routine (500 or more mg niacin, 30-40 min near and far infarred sauna @ 150 degrees, charcoal or spirallina chlorella) Just had blood work done nothing out of place except high B6 and High B12. If I have a flush, I must like it because having no issues. Just as a note, I just finished 3 day experiment with carnivor diet, Meat and avocado and RBD movements almost zero (I never say zero because I do not have the equipment to mearure such level). A good read or listen regarding Niacin is the book called Niacin: The real Story by Abram Hoffer MD. I found it very helpful as it encouraged me to up my dose with minimal risk.
Paul Stamets of microdosing fame uses 3 ingredients in his stack. Psilocybin, lions mane, and niacin. He claims that it is a neuro, protective, and possibly regenerative substance. I am beginning to believe him, even though I have not yet tried microdosing
I took Niacin years ago - the regular not slow release-- for cholesterol but had to stop when it raised my blood sugar.
Yeah I like the flush, makes me feel alive.😄
following-how did you determine how much you need to help you sleep?
Ugh.... Last night no Flush and couldn't fall asleep.
