Has anyone here, particularly with drug resistant tremor, been put on apomorphine? It sounds like a nightmare; a drug that has no relation to morphine, that's meant for dogs, makes you incredibly nauseous and sick, needs to be administered via a pump or injection and would be given during off periods which I don't have or with Levodopa which I don't take. Doesn't fill me with confidence or sound particularly practical but what's your experience?
Apomorphine: Has anyone here, particularly... - Cure Parkinson's
Apomorphine
I take apomorphine when I feel symptoms creep up...works great, and fast. I take the sublingual 10 mg PRN.
Sublingual sounds infinitely more acceptable than injections. I can't understand why injections are preferable apart from the accuracy of dose. I'm simply trying to stop a tremor and back/leg pain/weakness
I have taken apomorphine for several years by means of injection. When you first get started on it, it can cause nausea but as your body adjusts to it, the nausea disappears and the med has very good reaction time to getting you out of an OFF time. You can take SOME anti-nausea meds during that adjustment phrase.

No tremor, but hubby used it for a few years with great success...yes the injections are a pain, yes it only lasts a short while, but it "kicks in" really fast and that can be a lifesaver.
They monitored him closely but he never had any noticeable sideeffects. For some reason, we tried the sublingual version after being off apomorphine for a few years and it just puts him to sleep. IDK.
