so just what is this chemical- I am not comfortable going to the Mercola site after hearing of experiences with computer viruses being a problem on this site and I would want to know what the chemical is and if this information is confirmed anywhere else

It is Parquat. I guess there are class action lawsuits going forward accusing the chemical companies of burying data that showed that it causes PD, especially when combined with "plant lectins". The claim is that when used on things like beans and legumes it causes this combination that is particularly harmful. Not sure if it's valid. I have also seen lawsuits advertised for RoundUp causing PD. Both herbicides, and both should probably be banned worldwide.

Paraquat is used to "burn down" GMO soybeans. This dessicates them uniformly for harvest. You can't kill GMOs with other herbicides because they are resistant to them. I am seeing paraquat use in GMO corn to end the growing season too. A freeze kills corn and then it dries out for a couple months with harvest in the fall, but farmers are racing to beat each other to market when the prices are higher.

Of course paraquat or Roundup use for burndown happens in almost all crops now GMO or not. Melons, potatoes, sugar beets, all grains, canola, sunflower.... and then these contaminated crops become animal feed. It's so sad. People have no idea how toxic our food has become.

My husband worked as a farmer when he was young an d he used that and now has Parkinsosn. It was interesting to see there's a lot of lawsuits about it. We're in the UK, I don't know if that's occuring here too.
