did he really answer the question TL500 asked though? I listened and thought he really didn't give a defined answer. maybe he just doesn't know.

He said it was hard to say but estimated 1.5 to 2 years before they are generally available.

Peter Tass 's glove?

Manypony profile image
Manypony in reply toTL500

it’s a trial of “ the glove” with both an effective and a placebo protocol

This is from the video transcript. Note the time stamp and go to that part of the video:

49:08

what is the timeline or availability to the public

it's it's difficult to tell because it

49:17

um it it really depends on for example in very specific just one important

49:22

aspect as I told you about the racing car we expect this car to be very fast

49:28

and really super compared to the previous one but we have to know exactly how much faster it is and this will

49:35

influence the FDA approval trial we're going to do this will influence the time

49:41

points of the of the outcome outcome measures and I hope that in let's say

49:48

one and a half to two years or so we'll have this product available

Do you know if the interview was recently? I know that the video is just 3 days ago. Thanks

Yes, the interview was this last Monday, June 5, 2023. I watched it live. The YouTube was posted the next day.

Thanks. So have to wait 1.5 to 2 years for it?

their intention would be 1/2 to 2 years. The first kanwar bhuttani. videos came out in 2018. covid was obviously seriously disruptive. But these things have a habit of being delayed

WinnieThePoo profile image
WinnieThePoo in reply toWinnieThePoo

Well. We have an official stanford trial again. Initial trial of the new glove. 10 people 2 years, completes late 2025clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show...

TL500 profile image
TL500 in reply toWinnieThePoo

So that means the gloves won't be out on market until after 2025?

WinnieThePoo profile image
WinnieThePoo in reply toTL500

Well. It's a bit confusing. Although that is a new trial, yet to recruit, they appear to be re-using the template from the previous trial which they withdrew. It's only 10 people and open label. So for fda approval I would have thought they would need a larger placebo double blind trial of the same length. Maybe they would run that in parallel. If not, and they are going to wait for the conclusion of this one, then maybe 2027 or 2028

I was hopeful that it was going to be out 2024 when the first few videos were shown

The question that I asked on the seminar was why they felt they needed to let perfect get in the way of good.

I am happy to have a Ford Fiesta today rather than a race car in 4 years. I can also afford a Ford Fiesta, and keep it running. Perhaps the Synergic glove is the non race car version.

The DIY work is incredibly important if only to keep the pressure on to bring the "official" version to market and to keep pressure on the cost. The opensource work on 3d Printing was what dramatically transformed the industry, created new markets and reduced costs by an order of magnitude.

To appease the stakeholders and make a substantial profit. They are working the IP Attorneys hard protecting their “new” position having disclosed too much freely in the past.

JCRO, I agree that this is a not unlikely scenario. Certainly, once the device is on the market it will be quite easy to reverse engineer and anything that is not in the patents or is based on ideas in the papers but before the patents will be broadly available quite quickly particularly in countries with a low bar for non invasive medical devices.

WinnieThePoo profile image
WinnieThePoo in reply toCtime

The new glove may be a bit trickier to reverse engineer on a DIY basis since it probably involves monitoring brain activity and varying the vCR to match the feedback

Ethin profile image

Where did you see that? Was it in a new clinical trial description, published patent or some other presentation? I am afraid I missed that announcement.

Generally, I think closed loop makes sense. However, closed loop is not yet implemented in most DBS systems today, where it also makes sense, which suggests that the 'racing car glove' make take even longer to arrive. Unless Peter Tass is the Elon Musk of DBS/vCR.

Have you heard of the Cue1? It's also a wearable device, a sort of "button" that you place on your sternum, which has shown to reduce or eliminate many of the Parkinson´s symptoms. It does so by delivering " specialised patterns of vibration and pulses, known as ‘vibrotactile stimulation and cueing’, which improves motor skills, walking parameters, and reduces freeze-of-gait and stiffness". It's a real breakthrough, maybe not as powerful as Dr. Tass´s glove, maybe not a "race car" but a good enough Ford Fiesta that is already available for purchase. Designed by recent graduates of Imperial College and Cambridge University, it has been selling in the UK (there's a waiting list) and is being introduced in some of the NHS hospitals (no years-long FDA testing here).

Apparently, it works. I'm on the waiting list in Spain and am very excited because yesterday they informed me that they've arrived in Spain, and I'm one of the first on the mailing list, so I can now purchase one. 340€. I bought it yesterday and should receive it in about a week.

This is good competition for the glove, hope it helps to speed things along!

There have been a few posts on the forum about these. Experiences have been mixed. Some people get a valuable benefit from it. Quite a few don't. It's not equivalent. It may be vibrotactile but it isn't coordinated reset
