Since reading John Pepper's article on fast walking 3x weekly for an hour each time I downloaded Sports Tracker (free app) that tells me my average speed, how many steps, distance etc. I found it very useful especially just lately as my 6.5 km/hr has dropped to 6km/hr and I am having great difficulty getting back up to pace again.

In the book “Music as medicine particularly in Parkinson’s”, I explain how walking to music activates other parts of the brain, unaffected by Parkinson’s, so making gait easier, increasing arm swing, increasing stride length, motivation and energy. I list music at different speeds and suggest downloading those at a speed that slightly challenges you. I walk at 110 beats per minute. Without the beat-y music to walk to, I walk slower and get tired quicker. The book is available on Amazon. You can run the other apps while you walk. I use the app, map my walk.
