Just a reminder that even science (and here, science publishing (upon which medicine and other forms of health and care practices, schools and traditions also rely) is an imperfect discipline, like everything else...but also can be interesting, and even fun, just as a human endeavor to learn about.

Very interesting. Good post.

254 COVID-19 papers retracted.

Being wrong is one thing, lack of integrity, i.e., fraud/cheating, which is what most of these point to, is quite another.

Ever hear of the "Journal of Irreproducible Results"? Sort of an insider scientist humor magazine. (It's often so subtle and obtuse that no one else but a scientist would get it.) Don't know if it is still around.

Oh, when I was a grad student I used to LOVE that magazine! Sadly, I think it's not around anymore--maybe the world has lost too much of its sense of humor. But I'm going to go search...maybe I'm wrong! I'd love to be wrong.

Glad you thought so. It does help to give one perspective, and so people can judge things for themselves. It does help to be able to speak to people across the table as equally valuable humans.
